Kehaulani Marshall
BIO:
Kehaulani Marshall is a “Waimea girl” born and raised on the slopes of Mauna a Wakea. As the hiapo she was sent to O’ahu often to be raised by her great-grandmother as is customary in Hawai’i culture.
In her lifetime she has visited over a dozen states as well as Mexico and Canada, she has lived in four states and various communities, some of the communities rural and some urban. She has met and befriended people from all walks of life. Kehaulani has held jobs in food service, retail, self-proprietor and corporate businesses.
In 2000 she helped launch Hawaii's first Hawaiian focused charter school. She taught all ages in multi-age groups and same-age groups. Kehaulani currently teaches teachers how to "do" culturally-based education. In 2007she graduated from the University of Hawaii at Hilo with a BA in Communications. Her favorite 'olelo no'eau is, "e wehe i ka umauma i akea," open out the chest that it may be spacious. Be generous and kind to all.
Kehaulani lives with her family in Waimea on Hawai'i Island, in the same house she grew up in.
